Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo inicial discutir o conceito de desenvolvimento, inclusive em suas dimensões regional e local, desmistificando o significado do termo, já que esta palavra tem sido amplamente utilizada em vários sentidos, carregando interesses que muitas vezes são conflitantes. Além desta discussão introdutória, pretende-se abordar o conceito de diplomacia das cidades vinculando-o ao de desenvolvimento local.
