The aim of this article was to examine this literature based on the
contributions of María Lugones and Gloria Anzaldúa. Through reflections on the “fractured
locus” and “intimate terrorism,” the role of identity in the construction of the concept
and in the search for ontological security was questioned. It was argued that the idea of
“ontological (in)security” reproduces a colonial and patriarchal logic of fixed identities
and subject classification. The search for “security of being” makes the experiences of
“fractured” bodies invisible, legitimizing the criminalization and elimination of differences.
2025-06-20T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Helena Salim de Castro, Ramon Blanco https://cartainternacional.abri.org.br/Carta/article/view/1520 A Circulação Transnacional do Policiamento Comunitário 2024-11-04T10:27:50-03:00 Tomaz Oliveira Paoliello tomazpaoliello@gmail.com Priscila Villela villela.priscila@gmail.com
2025-06-20T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Tomaz Oliveira Paoliello, Priscila Villela https://cartainternacional.abri.org.br/Carta/article/view/1544 The Low Institutional Engagement of Brazilian Antarctic Diplomacy 2024-12-19T08:35:50-03:00 Erico Duarte ericoduarte@gmail.com Gabriel Benites gabrielnab25@gmail.com
The study contrasts Brazilian Antarctic science and diplomacy, focusing on Itamaraty’s
Antarctic Treaty System involvement. The Institutional Engagement Model evaluates MRE’s
Antarctic organizational and normative attitudes. This model combines Allison and Zelikow’s
(1999) organizational process analysis with the institutionalization of ideas and values
through diplomatic agent selection, training, and advancement and the standardization of
applicable standard operating procedures and standards. Under this paradigm, Brazilian
Antarctic diplomacy is hampered by frequent turnover, insufficient specialization, limited
resources, and a utilitarian approach to science, according to the paper.
2025-06-20T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Erico Duarte, Gabriel Benites https://cartainternacional.abri.org.br/Carta/article/view/1536 The International Monetary and Financial Order in the Post-2008 Crisis 2025-01-29T20:05:15-03:00 Debora Gaspar debora.gaspar@gmail.com
This paper revisits the discussion on order in the International
Monetary and Financial System (IMFS) by analyzing the strategies adopted by the United States and emerging countries in managing the Global Financial
Crisis. On the one hand, the activation of the Fed’s network of currency swaps indicates
crisis management by the hegemonic power. On the other hand, emerging economies
adopted defensive strategies, particularly capital controls. The aim is to show how certain
theoretical approaches in International Political Economy analyze the possible degrees of
accommodation between these strategies for containing the effects of the crisis.
2025-06-20T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Debora Gaspar
