Não-proliferação e conflito nuclear
Abstract
O desenvolvimento da bomba atômica representou não apenas um avanço espetacular na tecnologia militar, mas também uma drástica mudança na condução da política entre os Estados. O imenso poder de destruição da nova arma – dramaticamente demonstrado sobre Hiroshima e Nagasaki – tornou evidente que um conflito bélico entre dois países dotados de tal armamento levaria a danos recíprocos de tal magnitude que, ao final, seria difícil falar de vencedores e vencidos. Era a situação que, em certa época, costumava ser objeto de um adequado trocadilho a partir da sigla inglesa M.A.D. (mutual assured destruction), denotando a loucura envolvida. O enfrentamento militar direto entre grandes potências tornara-se um ato de insanidade política, se não mental.Downloads
