Internships as learning experience in the context of higher education of International Relations

Abstract

This article contributes to the expansion of debates about the internships`role in the context
of higher education in Bachelor of International Relations. In Brazil, the internship is
characterized in terms of the Internship Law and it has been defined as a relevant tool in the
teaching-learning processes. Through qualitative approach, documental and bibliographic
sources with exploratory purpose, the general objective is to present the significant gap in
the analysis of the internships carried out by the students of the aforementioned course,
discussing the activities`contribution as a learning experience to the formation of students’
skills and competences.

Silvana Schimanski, Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel)

Doutora em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade de Brasília, estágio Doutoral no Instituto de Altos Estudos Internacionais e do Desenvolvimento, em Genebra-Suíça. Mestre em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Bacharel em Administração com Habilitação em Comércio Exterior, pela Universidade do Vale do Itajaí. 

Professora Adjunta do curso de Relações Internacionais, vinculado ao Instituto de Filosofia, Sociologia e Política da Universidade Federal de Pelotas. Membro da Comissão Especial junto à Agência de Desenvolvimento da Lagoa Mirim, na área de governança transfronteiriça e relações internacionais.
