Argumenta-se que Fome e Segurança Alimentar são temas pertinentes para a análise sob o prisma das Relações Internacionais. A produção da comunidade nessa área é muito pequena, apesar de haver forte justificativa para estudo, tanto pelo ângulo do valor intrínseco do ser humano, quanto pelos ângulos teórico e político.
