This article aims to present a critical introduction to the thinking on International
Relations and Foreign Policy formulated by the Argentine intellectuals Juan Carlos
Puig and Carlos Escudé. Special attention is given to the treatment given by the
authors to the problem of autonomy in its theoretical-conceptual and normative
dimensions. To this end, the works of both authors are reviewed and placed in their
historical contexts and intellectual influences. Their main theses are subjected to a
critical scrutiny of their explanatory scope.
