This article examines the transition from Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its impact on academic research about
international technical cooperation for technology and knowledge diffusion. The study
compares academic production between 2000-2015 and 2016-2025, focusing on SDG Target
17.6, which aims to enhance international cooperation in this field. The methodology
employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol. Findings
indicate that, even with the SDGs’ efforts to give greater prominence to the Global South,
academic production remains dominated by countries in the North.
