The article presents and discusses the characteristics of scholarly production on Regionalism
within Brazil’s Graduate Programs (PPGs). The abstracts of Doctoral Theses and Master’s
Dissertations defended in the Political Science and International Relations PPGs from
1987 to 2021 were analyzed. We argue that the volume and themes of scholarly work on
Regionalism are linked to the importance that Brazilian Foreign Policy attributes to the
topic and, specifically, to certain regional initiatives, as seen with Mercosur and Unasur.
