The topic of discussion is the crisis of the liberal international order and, in line with
this, the changes in the distribution of power that have contributed to the worldwide
democratic regression. In this framework, this paper aims to analyse India’s new
definitions of democracy due to policies adopted domestically and abroad from 2019
to 2024. It concludes that the current perception of India’s deteriorating democracy
is a further reflection of the crisis of the liberal international order that is linked to
the rise of far-right parties.
