The article analyzes the opposition campaign to the 2016 impeachment of Rousseff in the
United States based on the relational and multidimensional approach proposed by the
theory of political confrontation and the sociology of transnational movements. We sought
to understand what conditions allowed the transnational campaign based on such an
argument to evolve in that country in a short period of time. To this end, semi-structured
interviews with transnational activists were qualitatively analysed. The research indicates
that the context of national crisis motivated the transnationalization of the campaign, while
the intensification of political confrontation in the United States offered new opportunities
for dissemination and construction of activist networks.
