Abstract

Between late 2010 and early 2011 a wave of protests hit the Middle
East region. This work seeks to know what impact they had in Oman. The guiding hypothesis maintains that the protests that began in 2011 opened the
door to a political change that, however, did not imply a deep political liberalization, much
less a democratic transition, but merely cosmetic reforms that did not attack the nature of
the political regime there. In methodological terms, a qualitative approach is used, based
on the collection and analysis of data from primary and secondary sources.
