This article aims to offer an alternative to interpretations that identify a conflicting relationship
between Latin American decolonial studies and Southeast Asian post-colonial studies. To
this end, it will mobilize a dialogue between the thoughts of Walter Mignolo and Homi
Bhabha as representatives of each group, aiming to point out the potentials of a reading
focused on the complementarity of their works. Thus, this work will approach the concepts
of “border thinking” and “hybridity” as guiding threads in order to explore the projects
of both intellectuals with a view to identifying the reasons for their contrasts, as well as
possible connections between them.
