The confluence between local and aesthetic turns in peace studies
a heterodox approach for peacebuilding

This article positions itself at the intersection between the local and aesthetic turns in Peace Studies, seeking to examine how art can contribute to transform the dynamics of violent conflicts by encouraging local people and communities to reflect critically on the structural and cultural factors that restrict their possibilities of life. The discussion is
illustrated through performances influenced by the theater of the oppressed carried out by Rafiki Theatre and Badilika Theatre in areas of violent conflicts in the African continent, seeking to highlight, finally, some critical aspects related to the possibilities and limitations of the interaction between art and peacebuilding.
